FAQ's

Are you open to the public?

Sage’s Vintage is a functioning winery in Texas, but we are a production only winery known as a Custom Crush facility. We invite you to follow and connect with us on social media to stay up to date on all things SV.

What is a Custom Crush winery?

A custom crush is a licensed and bonded winery that lets other wine brands make wine at its facility.  Sage’s Vintage specializes in producing unique hand crafted wines specifically for your brand .  So many reasons exist for custom crush, including shared costs of infrastructure, processing, grape sourcing, and bottling; not to mention consultation, troubleshooting, and on-the-spot collaboration with rock star winemakers and fellow custom crush clients.

What is the case minimum?

While we do not have an established case minimum, we prefer at least 60 cases of 12 – 750ml bottles per wine (1 pallet per wine) for orders or approximately 1 ton of fruit. We do work with smaller volumes but be advised that there is an additional charge for small lots on a per wine basis.

What is your usual timeline from entering a contract to the client being able to sell the finished product?

Given the seasonal nature of the wine industry, we are working on the annual grape harvest being in the summer months of Texas. Clients should have their contract and order sheet submitted to Sage’s Vintage in the spring of the same year if they want production to begin for that season.  We work to complete production on white and rose style wines for a bottling in the winter and early to market reds in the spring. Depending on the winemaking strategies and availability of bulk wine there can be some flexibility, but ultimately the timeline is based on the quality of the product. When the wine is ready, it’s ready.

How many clients does Sage’s Vintage have and who are they?

Sage’s Vintage has clients all over the state of Texas as well as the USA. We take our client relationships very seriously, and respect their privacy. If they would like to share their relationship with Sage’s Vintage then we will share them with you.

Do you produce muscadine/blueberry/blackberry/etc. wine?

We currently do not produce non-grape wines.  Our equipment, expertise, and passion lies in the production of wines from traditional wine grapes.  While the muscadine is an American grape variety it performs more like a fruit and is harvested by the single fruit as opposed to by the cluster.  It’s thick skin and coarse pulp are not conducive to techniques used at Sage’s Vintage.
